The OXOline concept

Barrels safely stored, while remaining independent and accessible at all times.

  • A unique concept

    Form and function

With traditional barrel stacking systems, each racking and cleaning necessitates moving the barrels; each lees stirring requires minutes of labor and additional oxidation to the wines. The stack heights are limited for safety reasons. What does one do when a barrel on the bottom of the stack has to be moved? In listening to our clients, and seeing how they work, we have developed the patented OXOline system.

    5 reasons to choose OXOline

A structure in which barrels are placed on a set of rollers. The space above each bung is free, allowing for work to be done on each barrel independently, in place. With the ability to access each barrel in the stack independently, it is possible to open, hot water rinse, fill, rack, clean, sample, rotate, and remove each barrel in the stack without touching any neighboring barrels. OXOline® is a modular system allowing assembly and configuration to meet the requirements of your space and work process.

Functions

outillage.jpgFILLING :

Filling is done in place using traditional tools.

outillage.jpgTOPPING:

Topping is done easily with any number of devices. With minimal effort, the barrel can be rotated slightly on its rollers so that the bung is on the side, if desired.

batonnage.jpgLEES STIRRING:

OXOline® modules are fitted with rollers, facilitating free rotation of barrels, whether empty or full. Lees stirring is accomplished quickly and easily simply by rotating the barrel, without opening the barrel and exposing the wine to oxygen. This fact allows lees stirring to occur more frequently, if desired. The time to rotate a barrel is about 5 seconds per barrel.

lavage.jpgCLEANING:

After racking, rinsing is accomplished while the barrel remains in place. For deep cleaning, a rotational cleaning wand developed specifically for OXOline is used.

egouttage.jpgDRIP DRYING:

The barrel may be rotated so that the bunghole is facing down to allow for drip drying into an optional stainless steel pan.

The fundamental benefits

1# AUGMENTS THE CAPACITY OF YOUR BARREL CELLAR :

  • Storing barrels up to 7 levels high, without unutilized space -> 3500 fit in a 100’ x 100’ cellar.
  • Cleaning and handling without removal from the stack -> Elimination of barrel emptying areas and cleaning rooms in the cellar.
  • Catwalks for handling all barrels up to 5 levels by hand, without usage of additional handling equipment -> Maximum reduction in aisle width.
  • Modular system -> Heights and widths of your system can change with your needs.

2# REDUCES YOUR OPERATING COSTS AND CAPITAL INVESTMENT :

  • Install, align, and remove barrels in the stack with only one person. Fill, top, stir lees, rack, clean, and taste each barrel without moving the stack. -> Significant reduction in working time.
  • Barrel cleaning areas in the cellar are eliminated, maximizing usage of your cellar -> square footage.
  • Reduces required cellar size, resulting in capital investment savings Barrels are not under pressure from the weight of the stack -> Maintains good condition of barrel for continued use or sale.

3# ASSISTS IN THE ENHANCEMENT OF QUALITY IN YOUR WINES :

  • Reduced usage of forklifts (propane), and pressure treated wood rails -> Elimination of pollutants.
  • Easy barrel rotation by only one person -> More frequent lees stirring, without opening the barrel resulting in less oxygen uptake and necessary sulfite additions. Simplified “bung on the side” aging.
  • Completely sanitary and easy drip drying using stainless steel pan -> Maximum barrel storage density in your cellar square footage area More barrels equals greater thermal mass, resulting in less abrupt changes in cellar temperature.

4# GAURANTEES YOU RELIABILITY AND SAFETY :

  • Designed with a high safety coefficient -> Conforms to CE norms and work safety standards.
  • Parts are galvanized under the epoxy paint, which is baked at nearly 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The feet which form the base are plastified (to a thickness of 700um), sealed bearings, with food grade plastic rollers. -> Dependability, durability, without pollution.
  • Adjustable feet to adapt to uneven floors -> High degree of stability.
  • Either on the ground or catwalk, all work can be performed comfortably at each level of the stack -> Work safely, without a ladder, for all operations on the barrels.

5# A FLEXIBLE AND ELEGANT SOLUTION FOR YOUR CELLAR :

  • OXOline1 is adapted, for the most part, to work with your existing barrels and tools (filling pistol, racking wand, etc) -> Simple and rapid integration into your cellar’s work flow.
  • Each barrel may be removed at any moment -> Maximum flexibility for the organization of your cellar; by quality, cooper, age of barrel, lot, etc.
  • The OXOline1 structure is very discrete in its form and colors (black satin or galvanized) -> Aesthetic value of perfectly aligned barrels in the cellar.
