Problem

This emblematic wine warehouse designed by Philippe Starck has a unique elliptical shape. The rows of barrels must follow the curve of the walls, and the central part of the cellar must be easy to clear in order to free up space.

Solution

The peripheral rows are equipped with the OXO Wine 2, which was custom designed to follow the curve of the cellar walls.
The central rows are equipped with 5-barrel OXO Wine 1 modules that can be moved with a forklift truck.

Problem

The Caillou Blanc wine warehouse needed to be optimized to accommodate the storage of barrels of different sizes, and to facilitate handling and bâtonnage operations. Aesthetics had to be a criterion for the solutions chosen.

Solution

The 225 L and 228 L barrels are stored on 2 levels thanks to the OXO Wine 2 with a customized color that matches the winery's woodwork. The 400 L barrels are stored on the ground on OXOline Monobloc 8-wheelers. All the chosen racks allow for the rotation of the full barrels, so that the lees can be resuspended evenly, quickly and without oxidation.

Problem

Equip a temperature-controlled winery to ferment red grapes in 225 L barrels using the Vinification Intégrale technique.®. The aim is to store as many barrels as possible. The barrels had to be able to be handled full with a forklift truck. The full barrel had to be easy to rotate on the racks during fermentation.

Solution

238 barrels are stored on 2 levels with the OXO Wine 2. Rotation is easy, and full barrels can be handled with a forklift and an OXOlift.

Problem

Install the barrels on several levels in the circular winery designed by Norman Foster. Be able to wash and drain the barrels in place. Search for aesthetics.

Solution

The barrels are stored on a custom-designed OXO Wine 2 with a large curved radius. On-site washing is made possible thanks to a Moog barrel cleaner. The barrels appear to be levitating.

Problem

Store as many barrels as possible in a new winery, using an attractive, durable rack where each barrel is independent to facilitate batch management. The budget had to be kept under control.

Solution

The OXO Spirit 2 with a black metalization option was selected on a 4-level configuration.

Problem

Increase the storage capacity of the winery and be able to wash the barrels in place. An aesthetic solution was desired.

Solution

The OXO Wine 1 on 5 levels and the Moog Flex HD barrel cleaner were selected. All the pressurized water and drainage networks were integrated into the walls, and water outlets were placed between each row to reduce hose lengths.

Problem

Store barrels in the traditional circular fashion (with wedges).
The rack had to be attractive, durable, free of contaminants and allow for floor cleaning beneath the barrels.

Solution

Our design office created traditional rails in steel and curved solid oak, fitted with adjustable stainless steel legs. Each segment was custom-made with a specific curved radius and length. The barrels and wedges are placed on the oak section.

The challenge

Renovating an old industrial wine cellar whilst maximizing the barrel storage of two iconic South African brands : Cape Maritime Chardonnay and The Chocolate Block. The chosen structure must be aesthetic, optimize the space, facilitate the bâtonnage of the Chardonnay barrels, ensure maximum flexibility in the management of the various batches, and ease barrel washing during the cleaning process.

The Solution

All the barrels are stored on OXO Wine 2 on 6 levels. Handling is done using selft-propelled elevating plaforms. This is the largest OXOline installation ever made for a winery, with 6,153 barrels stored in a single cellar.

Problem

Create several wineries for maturing whiskey in 200, 225, 228, 250, 350 and 400 L casks. The storage method had to allow for the maximum optimization of space, accommodate different formats and allow for the removal of a cask independently without affecting the neighboring casks.

Solution

Two types of structures were chosen: The OXO Spirit 2 228 and OXO Spirit 2 400. Our design office developed a rubber wedge which, when positioned on the 7-level OXO Spirit 2 228 structure, allows for the accommodation of various smaller-sized casks. The 5-level OXO Spirit 2 400 structure was preferred for the 350 and 400 L casks. The casks can be safely positioned or removed using the battery-powered Superlift stacker.

Problem

Store 15,000 200 L casks in a minimum of space, and be able to handle these full casks with a forklift truck, independently of each other.

Solution

Our design office drew up the plans for the storage cellar, which included a specific design for the 10-level OXO Spirit 2 200 structure. The casks are handled using a forklift truck and an OXOlift equipped with cameras and lasers for greater maneuvering precision.

Problem

Rehabilitate a former wine warehouse into a highly aesthetic winery that is open to the public.

Solution

Our design office proposed a circular, amphitheatrical staging of the 200 L casks with a curved, black powder-coated OXO Spirit 2 200. The casks look as if they are levitating, and this winery has become one of the showcases for the distillery.
